Conquering Fast Food

For my New Year's Resolution I decided to give up fast food for the entire year. I am allowed Subway (only sandwiches on flatbread or as a salad) and two Starbucks drinks a month. I am also allowed to go to sit-down restaurants as long as I remember to get 1 protein, 1 carb, and 1 veggie (potatoes don't count... haha). So far, so good. It's day 11 and I don't crave it one bit. I thought I would really miss my mouth watering chicken nugget meal...

So, what's the point?
It's not like it's a secret. We all know what is said about fast food. We all know it is crammed with calories, fat, and sugars. Many of us have seen 'Supersize Me' and in case you haven't, here is a summery:

"Super Size Me is a 2004 American documentary film directed by and starring Morgan Spurlock, an Americanindependent filmmaker. Spurlock's film follows a 30-day period from February 1 to March 2, 2003 during which he ate only McDonald's food. The film documents this lifestyle's drastic effect on Spurlock's physical and psychological well-being, and explores the fast food industry's corporate influence, including how it encourages poor nutrition for its own profit." - Wikipedia

Since that movie has come out many fast food chains (but most notibly McDonald's) have been trying to add healthy alternatives to their menus. Salads, wraps, apples, and more can now be found on their menus next to Big Mac meals and dollar french fries. Considering all of the healthy alternatives, doesn't that make fast food kind of okay?

No.

And I only say no because if you are like me... as soon as you get into that drive-through line you know your mouth will be watering for those amazing chicken nuggets, a large fry, extra cheeseburger and a diet coke (you know.. because THAT helps so much).

Many people will argue that they don't have time to meal prep. that they don't know what to make, or that it's cheaper to eat fast food. To everyone who says that, I'm letting you know that is a huge excuse. It's not hard to make lunches for the week on a Sunday, wake up a half hour early, or make them before bed. Its certainly cheaper to get deli meat, bread, and fixings for that amazing samwich than it is to get a large #1 every day. Even easier, some of you reading may be drinking Shakeology. It's complete nutrition in a shake. All you need to do is blend (or shake) and drink. It makes you nice and full and takes less than 5 minutes to make... as for price, it's 4$ a day. Most Starbucks drinks cost more than that.

Added with proper sleep, exercise, and maintaining that healthy diet does wonders for your physical and mental health. If you've been thinking about giving up fast food or are trying to get yourself fit I encourage you to message me! I would love to be able to help!
